Amarasinghe Brothers

The Amarasinghe brothers are the project initiators. All three brother were born and raised in the village of Panagamuwa, a rural hamlet in Southern Sri Lanka. The brothers are naturalized citizens of the United Sates.

Thejasiri (T.D.), a former lecturer of mathematics in Technical Colleges, was the last to arrive in the U.S. in 1993.

Dr. Disamoda (D.C.), a general, vascular, and thoracic surgeon, born second in the family, immigrated to the U.S. in 1969 to practice medicine. The youngest among the three brothers, Dula, came to the United States in 1976. Dula, a former international banker who handled the business of South East Asia for Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company (now JP Morgan Chase) is currently the President and CEO of Asean Capital, Inc., a registered, licensed Mortgage Broker in the states of New York, New Jersey and Florida

The late Wagiswarachariya Abrham Amarasinghe, Justice of the Peace, their father and late Mrs. Seelawathie Amarasinghe, principal of Ihalagoda Government Girl’s School, were contributors to many charities including donation of a school to the Buddhist Theosophical Society in 1952. Following the generous tradition of their parents, the Amarasinghe brothers, realizing the devastation caused by the 2004 tsunami in Sri Lanka, and in particular to their home town, Galle, made a pledge to donate ten acres of land to build an orphanage for tsunami orphaned children in the village of Panagamuwa.

The Sri Lanka Orphanage Fund (SLOF) has been designated as a tax exempt, publicly supported, charitable organization under section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code and all donations are fully tax deductible.
